The Yeah Song words and music by Joel Pakan © 2003 Subtle Conversation Music (ASCAP) - tangledblue.com Stumbling, tumbling, sometimes risen, sometimes fallen. When I sit and think about it I’m prone to dissipate. Move me; groove me like a record spinning slowly. Imprint me with a tune that tells of the joy in this place, yeah. Freely, fondly, help me recall the love shown to me. And keep me from taking myself too seriously. Thankful, cup full of more than I thought possible. Gifted with more possibilities than minutes in this day. Do not bury me in the ground while there is work to be found. Wake me with the light of day and put me to good use, yeah. Burdened, turned in with all the things I’ve stolen. Forgive me for the rags I hoard so needfully. Make me; shake me from the drone of this complacency. So I will not look back and see this day as a waste. Hide me under a bushel, no! Help me reflect the light You throw. Even in my darkest night, put me to good use, yeah. Take this love for my country and my wife. Take my hardened heart and callused life. Take my selfish need to disagree. My optimism for what can be. Take this guitar, every song I sing. Hurtful thought and careless fling. Drown them in Your time and space. In the strange economics of Your grace. Draw me out; shake me loose; put me to good use, yeah. Do not bury me in the ground while there is work to be found. Hide me under a bushel, no! Help me reflect the light You throw. Drown me in Your time and space, in the strange economics of Your grace. Draw me out;shake me loose; put me to good use, yeah.

Pray Where You Are -Words and Music by Terry Taylor and Lost Dogs © 1993 B-1 Music / Chenka-Chenka Music / Word Music (ASCAP) In the submarines and the tanks, in the S&L’s and banks, in the cancer wards, the prisons and the bars. On the earth and on the moon, in the closet in your room, in the flophouses, the think tanks and the farms. To the salesman forever trying to sell. To the faithful daughter walking to the well. Pray where you are, pray where you are. In the fields and in the factories, there’s no limits, rules or boundaries. At work or school or driving in your car, pray where you are. In the strip joints and the church, on a desperate lost child search, on the airplanes and the back roads and the rails. On the black-tops and the beach, down the sewer and up the creek, in the penthouse and the pool halls and the jails. To the criminal with no one left to con. To the movie star whose day has come and gone. Pray where you are, pray where you are. In the fields and in the factories, there’s no limits, rules or boundaries. At work or school or driving in your car, pray where you are. To the junkie with his back against the wall. To the lawman who breaks another law. In the desert, by the shore, in a peacetime, in a war. In the pentagon, the courtrooms and the malls. In the tents and in the caves, at the truck stops, by the graves. In our hopes and fears and struggles great and small. To the corner prophet no one seems to hear, to the President who prays for four more years. Pray where you are, pray where you are. In the fields and in the factories, there’s no limits, rules or boundaries. At work or school or driving in your car, pray where you are.

Begin Again 02:48
You and I, we get to be. You and I, we get to begin. We get to begin again. Brought together in one name. Built for love and not for blame. When we lay in hurt and regret help us not forget. You and I, we get to be. You and I, we get to begin. We get to begin again. I was lost when I was found I was saved when I was drowned. Take this day and let it be consecrated unto Thee.

I Will Not Let You Go Words and Music by Joel Pakan © 2003 Subtle Conversation Music (ASCAP) - tangledblue.com No matter what, no matter what may come. No matter what may come I will not let you go. Seed blown by the wind, buried in winter and frozen. Remember the water that graced your head, rain in the spring that brings life from what’s dead. This season will pass but My promise will remain. No matter what, no matter what may come. No matter what may come I will not let you go. Child bitter with rage, blind and broken under this weight. Seek Me first and you will find, righteousness for your heart and peace for your mind. I came to find you, in Me you will be found. No matter what, no matter what may come. No matter what may come I will not let you go. This Love is for you, no matter what you do. It does not depend on who you are or where you’ve been. On what you’ve said or what you have seen. No matter what, no matter what may come. No matter what may come I will not let you go.

Heaven’s My Home Words and Music by Aimée Pakan © 2003 Twisted True Music (ASCAP) -tangledblue.com- I’ve been on this road a hundred times, a thousand times. And it never gets shorter only flatter and longer. And the hot summer sun sets on the Illinois prairie as I’m takin’ this road to the city near the city I love. And when I get there so much has changed, it’s always changed. And the places I roamed are now houses and buildings. And everything that meant anything to my childhood memory has been slowly erased by the city near the city I love. Heaven’s my home; yeah, heaven’s my home. Where life is eternal and love lasts forever. And the dreams of this world are all made complete, and home really feels like home. Well the last few years I’ve spent wandering and pondering all the places I’ve been and where it is I’m going. Though I don’t understand His plans, I know someday I’ll see Him face to face as I’m takin’ this road to the city, yeah, the city I love. Heaven’s my home; yeah, heaven’s my home. Where life is eternal and love lasts forever. And the dreams of this world are all made complete, and home really feels like home.

Come Thou Fount -Words: Robert Robinson, 1758; Music: John Wyeth, 1813. Public Domain- Come, Thou Fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing Thy grace. Streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming tongues above. Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it; mount of Thy redeeming love. Here I raise my Ebenezer; here by Thy great help I’ve come. And I hope, by Thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home. Jesus sought me when a stranger, wandering from the fold of God. He, to rescue me from danger, interposed His precious blood. O to grace how great a debtor, daily I’m constrained to be! Let that grace now like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to Thee. Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it. Prone to leave the God I love; here’s my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above. O that day when freed from sinning I shall see Thy lovely face. Clothed then in the blood washed linen, how I’ll sing Thy wondrous grace. Come, my Lord, no longer tarry, take my ransomed soul away; send thine angels soon to carry me to realms of endless day.

Gift of Grace Words and Music by Joel Pakan © 2003 Subtle Conversation Music (ASCAP) -tangledblue.com- Her husband left this earth many years before, but her faith and hope kept her looking for the world that was yet to come. Trusting, born of this faith and hope, led this widow out to the temple court where her coins surpassed all other offerings. They could never give as much as she had given. They could never take her place. Girded with faith and a Word that is living, her trust was filled with God’s Grace (Luke 21:1-4). Mary had sat at His feet so many times clinging to the truth He made so unconfined. Somehow she knew this was the last time. Moved beyond the pending doom to praise, she poured out all she had, yeah all she’d saved and the fragrance filled the room. She could never give as much as she’d been given. She could never take His place. So she broke the bank of all her savings, and He filled her gift with His Grace. And it was poured out. Poured out to the world. Poured out, like God’s gift of Grace (John 12:1-8). Now we are separated by miles and time from these two gifts God has graced and found sublime, but this same Spirit moves today. Placed as a seed upon every heart to grow, provide shelter, and bare the fruit of Christ to a world in need. We could never give as much as we’ve been given. We could never take His place. Lord, move us to trust, so all we are living is a gift of Grace. We could never give as much as we’ve been given. We could never take Jesus place. So move us to a reckless trust like the author and perfector of our faith. And we will be poured out. Poured out to this world. Poured out like God’s gift of Grace.

Because You Love Me -Words and Music by Aimée Pakan © 2003 Twisted True Music (ASCAP) -tangledblue.com- I am sinner and saint at the same time, broken and whole, prisoner and free. I am wandering lost but I’ve been found too, resistant to choice but chosen by You. Well it’s not by what I do, not by what I say. I am Yours; I am Yours because You claim me. And it’s not by what I do, not by what I say. I am Yours; I am Yours because You love me. I am open and stubborn at the same time, living and dying, dirty and clean. I am hearing the lies and seeking the Truth, running away and being drawn to you. Well it’s not by what I do, not by what I say. I am Yours; I am Yours because You claim me. And it’s not by what I do, not by what I say. I am Yours; I am Yours because You love me. Failing and trying, grounded and flying. Hurting and healing, callused and feeling. Seeking Your face, in need of Your grace. Well it’s not by what I do, not by what I say. I am Yours; I am Yours because You claim me. And it’s not by what I do, not by what I say. I am Yours; I am Yours because You love me.

Jesus Christ is Risen Today -Words: verses 1-3 Latin Carol, 14th. Cent, verse 4 by Charles Wesley, 1707-1788. Music: Lyra Davidica, 1708 Public Domain- Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia! Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia! Who did once upon the cross, Alleluia! Suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia! Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia! Unto Christ, our heavenly King, Alleluia! Who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia! Sinners to redeem and save. Alleluia! But the pains which he endured, Alleluia! Our salvation have procured, Alleluia! Now above the sky he's King, Alleluia! Where the angels ever sing. Alleluia! Sing we to our God above, Alleluia! Praise eternal as his love, Alleluia! Praise Him all you heavenly hosts, Alleluia! Father, Son and HolyGhost, Alleluia!

Light of the World -Words and Music by Cathy Pino © Cathy Pino- You are the light of the world. You are the light of the world, so shine, shine, shine where you are. You are the light of the world. You are a city on a hill... You are a candle in the dark... You are a star in the night... You are the light of the world...

Begin Again (reprise) -Words and Music by Aimée and Joel Pakan © 2003 tangledblue.com- I was lost when I was found, was saved when I was drowned. Woke up to something new, something new and within view. It was You, yeah it was You. New day dawning, new day come, new day named after the sun. Risen high for all to see. Night does come and night does flee from You. Night flees from You... Brought together in one name. Built for love and not for blame. When we lay in hurt and regret, help us, help us not forget we’re in You. We are in You because You are everywhere. Take My Life -Words and Music by F. R. Havergal and W. H. Havergal. Public Domain- Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee; take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise. Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of Thy love; take my intellect and use every power as Thou shalt choose. Take my voice and let me sing always, only, for my King; take my heart, it is Thine own. It shall be Thy royal throne. Take my love, my Lord, I pour, at Thy feet its treasure-store; take myself, one day I will be, ever, only, all for Thee.

about

Tangled Blue Minneapolis, Minnesota

Since June of 2000, Aimee and Joel have been making music together. Their first CD was completed in 2003. Recorded at a farm house in Wisconsin, it is a caffeinated, folk-rock blend of songs that have shown their durability as the duo traveled with them over 500,000 miles of highways. With a new home in Minneapolis, Tangled Blue recorded "Advent" in 2008 and will finish a third project this year. ... more
