about
Recorded in our living room in the autumn of 2011. This song was almost cut because many of the traditional lyrics for this song are, in our estimation, less than excellent. Many of the new lyrics found in recent hymnals are copyright protected, and we didn't want to take the time to secure permission to record the copyrighted lyrics. Instead, we wrote a new line into the fourth verse that includes part of a traditional verse... this is the only place you'll find this version of this Advent classic. The photo, by Micah Taylor, is from the live recording session. More photos are at

lyrics
O Come O Come Emmanuel
and ransom captive Israel
that mourns in lowly exile here
until the Son of God appear
Rejoice, Rejoice, Emmanuel shall come to thee O Israel
O Come O Wisdom from on high,
who orderest all things mightily
to us the path of knowledge show,
and teach us in her ways to go
Rejoice, Rejoice, Emmanuel shall come to thee O Israel
O come blest Dayspring come and cheer,
our spirits by Thine advent here
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night,
and death’s dark shadow put to flight
Rejoice, Rejoice, Emmanuel shall come to thee O Israel
O come O King of all please come,
unite us with Thy creation
bid Thou our sad divisions cease
and be thyself our King of Peace.
Rejoice, Rejoice, Emmanuel shall come to thee O Israel
